The Da Vinci Code is a novel by American author Dan Brown and published in 2003 by Doubleday. This book opens with the words of Dan Brown that "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents and secret rituals in this novel are accurate," although this claim is disputed by scholars academics in discussions of books. This book is one of the world's best-selling book sold over 36 million copies and been translated into over 40 languages.
Combining the style of a detective, thriller and conspiracy theory, this novel has helped popularize the attention of a theory about the legendary Holy Grail (Holy Grail) and the role of Mary Magdalene in Christian history. The theories considered by Christians as heretical and has been criticized as an inaccurate history. Claims storyline says that the Catholic Church has been involved in a conspiracy to cover up the true story of Jesus. This implies that the Vatican by consciously aware of being alive in a falsehood, but doing something in order to maintain his power. The fans praise that this book is creative, although critics also attacked by saying inaccurate and poorly written, and condemned a controversial stance on the role of the Christian Church.

The story of this novel begins with the murder of Jacques Sauniere was a curator of the Louvre, in Paris. Killings carried out Silas, a monk, in order to get the keystone secret Priory of Sion, because there is contained information about the Holy Grail, the cup used by Jesus in the last holy communion with his disciples. Before he died, Jacques Sauniere had given instructions that resulted in Robert Langdon's password, symbols scientist from Harvard University, got involved in this case.
Robert Landon then worked with Sophie Neveu, a French government scientists password, which also granddaughter of Jacques Sauniere. In this effort, both continue to be hunted Captain Bezu Fache, a member of the French criminal detectives, and Silas. Captain Bezu want to uncover cases of murder, while Silas was assigned to the leader of Opus Dei, a secret organization of the Catholic Church, in order to save the Catholic Church.
Robert Landon and Sophie Neveu then met with Sir Leigh Teabing, the scientists who explore the secrets of the Holy Grail. Teabing describes the various "secret church", of whom Jesus was only human who was married to Mary Magdalene. So for the sake of political interests of the Roman Emperor Constantine set Jesus as Lord through a council (meeting of the church) in the city of Nicaea in 325. The council decided all the "bible is right", which states Jesus was a human being, banned and burned. While the "original followers of Jesus", namely those who do not believe in the divinity of Jesus was established as the heretics, and must be destroyed.
Furthermore, Teabing explains Leonardo da Vinci, who is a member of the Priory of Sion secret union, knowing the secret marriage of Jesus to Mary Magdalene, so the task is to keep the secret union. However, Leonardo da Vinci leaked through a very famous painting, The Last Supper that depicts the atmosphere of the Passover meal before Jesus was arrested. The painting is to hide some code that shows Mary Magdalene was the wife of Jesus.
